How is Storyline content loaded into a browser?

Feb 17, 2016

I've created an 80 minute course which I've split down into 5 separate articulate projects. It includes many layers, video and photographs. I need to keep the resolution of the videos high as users need to assess their content closely. I'm having numerous complaints that users are getting stuck trying to access the content. They see the grey circle with question mark signifying a flash memory issue or just get the spinning loading icon and can't move on.

I wondered if somebody could tell me how Storyline loads files and what features require the most flash memory?

I use fades for aesthetic reasons but would remove them if it meant accessing became easier. I also have many layered files.

Does all of the content get loaded into the browser when the slide is viewed or only the content that is visible? I've removed all of the optional tab order items from the list as recommended on another forum post.

Thanks

Jon

Hi Jon,

I don't believe I've heard anything about animations such as the fade causing an issue with the overall loading. I did want to ask if you were using the latest update of Storyline 2 Update 7 and what browser you were accessing it through? I know that previously some users had difficulty in IE and Update 7 did include some performance improvements to assist with that.
