How to add variables ?

Hello,

I'm trying to make a personality test with storyline. Each choice adds a point to a profil. I use several questions by profil.

But I have a problem : when the learner make a choice (he choses the reply "A"), one point is added to the variable A. But, if the learner changes his answer (he choses "B" after), I don't how to do to remove the point to the variable A without changing the total score of the variable A.

So I'm trying different things to solve this problem. My idea is to create one variable by response (Variable A1, variable A2, etc) and to add those variables to get the total of variable A. But it's impling to create a lot of variables and I'm don't know how to add variables and mostly if it's possible. Is there an other method ?

Storyline uses tags (like %text%), does a list of formulas for Storyline exist ?

Hi Christophe, 

Thanks for reaching out here. You could look at adjusting the variables value solely based on what they selected - so it would be changing the total value. If you'd like to keep the score for the user first checking A and then add to it, there is a trigger to Add to a variable. Or as you mentioned you could set up individual variables for each possible choice the user has. 

There isn't a list of all the formulas, but you'd see them as a part of the triggers. Also, you may want to review the information here in regards to setting up variables.
