What setting should I use to ensure the hint box never disappears from the slide. It stays there and points to the text entry box until action is complete (obviously next slide will come after that)
The Hint Caption layer, by default, is set to disappear once the user hovers out of the hotspot. You can change that behavior by unchecking the Options checkbox in the trigger:
I also recommend extending the timeline of the Hint Caption layer, as it's usually set to stay on for a few seconds:
Thank you Maria. It helped partly but I want it to be a permanent feature on the slide. This is for SAP training, I am putting information into the bubble about variations and asking them to perform one - as an example/practice. I would also want to highlight the data entry fields.
Thank you for the additional details. I'll leave it to our community members to offer you design suggestions, as it sounds like you want to customize the slides from the Screen Recording feature. It might be helpful to share what you have so far by attaching your .story file.
Continuing with what I suggested above, what you can do to keep the hint caption layer from disappearing is :
Right-click the caption on the timeline and choose Show Always.
Remove the Exit Animation.
Let me know if this is closer to what you're looking to accomplish.

I used text boxes on the screen as permanent fixtures to guide users towards the variations possible. It worked well
