Try again layer is different on try mode when Show hint captions is "When hovered" vs. "Always"

May 17, 2016

Hi Everyone,

When creating a try mode simulation with Show hint captions set to "When hovered" the Try Again layer has a gray text box.  When the Show hint captions is set to "Always", the Try Again layer has only the text, without the box.

How can you get that gray text box to appear when Show hint captions is set to "Always" without having to edit every slide?

Also, how can you change the color of that gray box without having to edit every slide?

Thank you,

John

It would be better to use the feedback master for this.  I looked at it, but didn't see a slide that has only the feedback text  without the gray box.

So where does Storyline 2 get that Try Again text without the gray box from?

How does the Try Again layer know to use the feedback master instead of the regular slide master?

How does the Try Again layer know which slide from the feedback master to use?

How can you have a layer use a specific slide from the slide master?

Hi John!

I'm not seeing this behavior that you are reporting. I created a quick Try Mode demo with hint captions to test:

I'm getting the standard feedback box as I can see in my feedback masters:

Our tutorial here talks about working with Feedback Masters, and the Try Again layout is a part of this.

When you add layers to a slide, they'll be based upon the feedback master's blank layout by default.

You can change the layout for any layer. Here's how:

  1. Select the layer you want to change in the Slide Layers panel.
  2. Go to the Home tab on the ribbon and click the Layout drop-down.
  3. Select a layout.

To edit your feedback master or add new layouts, see this tutorial.
