How To Have An Icon Be A Survey Answer For Tracking Purposes

Jul 22, 2021

Hello,

Does anyone know how I can make my custom Icons into survey answers? I made custom icons that change color on mouse hover and when selected. I want to be able to track the selections people are making (Low, Medium, or high).

I could have used just text based survey choices, but the client wanted graphical. I am not sure how to solve this tracking issue, so any information would be greatly appreciated.

see attached photo for an example of the graphical choices.

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

Hi, Matthew

If your icons have a Selected state and are in a button set (so only one can be selected at a time), you could use different triggers with conditions based on which one is in the Selected state.  For example, jump to slide 2 if iconA is Selected, jump to slide 3 if iconB is Selected, etc.

Another option, create a variable for tracking. Add a trigger to each icon that adjusts the variable to a corresponding value. For example, if it's a Text variable, clicking the "Low" icon could adjust the variable to "Low." Or, if you want to use a number variable, that icon could put "1" as the value.  One advantage of tracking with a variable is that the variable value can be referenced later in the course.
