I thought I had figured it out, but I guess not. The only thought I have would be to set multiple motion paths set to start and end at a fix point (not relative start points). I might have to give it another shot this weekend. Certainly we are pushing it beyond its intended purpose, but that is what makes it fun.
hi Charles, love this effect. I am trying to create something similar. I got the slider to work with the image. To have another layer of interactivity, i added couple of hotspots to the image, however, the hotspots dont scroll with the slider. How would i fix that"? thanks!
Off of the top of my head I would say there are three possibilities. The first and what I had done with other objects was to group the objects together, but after a quick test, that doesn't seem to be allowed with hot spots. The second, is to add a separate set of motion paths to to the hot spots. You should be able to able to use the Animation painter to do that with little effort. The third way would be to put the hot spots on layers and have a layer for each position the slider stops, so for a slider with 10 positions you would have to have 10 layers for each hot spot.
I would try to make #2 work first. If you have trouble, send me the file and I will take a look at it after work.

I have redeveloped my image panning example and put it into a new post. This one is a little more duffus proof - I am looking at you Ken.
Triggering Motion Paths Using a Slider V2
( Just kidding Ken, thanks for the push.)
