How to pause a video and slide together?

Hi there,
I'm having some problems with my introduction video. I want the learners to have the option to pause the video and I want the video to fade out in the end.
If I press pause (I used the trigger jump to next slide when the media completes) and after a few minutes I press play, the video won't finish completely. It just fades away when the timeline of the base ends.
Is there a way to solve this? I even tried it with a layer so I could pause the base layer when the video is playing but it isn't working for me.
Thanks!

Hi Bram,
Have you seen this method by David Anderson to create a play/pause set up for your video?
You'll also find some similar scenarios within the following forum threads and screenrs:
Hope that helps!
hmm that are handy trics. But I think it won't help me with the fact that i want to fade out my video... It's the fade out that goes on when I pause the video..
But thanks for the input anyway.
Ahh, thanks for the additional information Bram. The fade out animation can't be trigger, but it set to the time of the actual object. If you'd like to see further support for such triggers you may want to share your thoughts in the form of a feature request.
Maybe not the most eloquent of solutions, but you could try the following:
1) create an additional slide that matches the "end state" view of your video slide (pre-fade) and place it after your video slide.
2) auto advance to this slide "when media completes"
3) immediately fade from this slide into the next
Users won't know they just passed through a "transition only" slide and it should be close to the effect you are trying to achieve.
Thanks Owen.
Hi Owen, thanks for your answer can you please tell me the best way to apply point 3? My introduction slide auto advances to the transition slide. But it will take a few seconds before it fades, doesn't look natural. But when i shorten the time line to like, one second, the fade won't be finished.
The fade transition is actually applied to the slide you are transitioning to.
1) Select the target slide
2) Click the Animations tab in the toolbar
3) In the Transition to this Slide section, choose the fade animation. It should be the first choice to the right of the no animation default
4) Choose your speed
Because the Fade Smoothly animation is applied to the landing slide, you can shorten the pass through slide timeline to the shortest duration possible. Also, by using the slide fade smoothly animation, instead of using an exit animation on your video, you might be able to skip the pass through slide all together and go straight to your target.
Just tried it and you can skip the pass through...unless you want to do something like "fade to black" before the next content is shown. To get the fade to black effect, simply put a big black box on your transition slide. Delete the transition slide if you just want to fade to the next content.

Wauw Owen, Thanks a lot that helped me out!
