html output freezing recording but muting audio on click
May 24, 2016
Hi all,
I'm sure it's an easy fix and a massive oversight on my part, but I need some help with a weird issue.
I've recorded some screen activity in one of our applications, with audio (as one recording, not overlaying an audio file), inserted the recording as "video on a single slide" and published my Storyline 2 file (web), to a sharepoint site.
When I launch the story.html file from the site, it loads fine, however, if I click anywhere on the screenshot, it seems to freeze the audio element of the recording, but continues to play the screen activity.
This means that the boxes highlighting fields on the system I've added to the slide stop matching up with the audio.
The only triggers I have are a back button, a contents button and the slides advance at the end of the timeline on each slide.
Any ideas as to why this might be happening, please?

Hi, Simon -- Many thanks for reaching out! May I ask if you have tested your course published for Web also on tempshare.articulate.com yet to see if you are encountering the same behavior? That will help determine if the issue is more with the course itself or the environment in which it is being accessed.
Hi Christie,
I haven't, but will do so now. Thanks.
In the tempshare it works fine. Clicking the slide does nothing.
Strange,
Hi, Simon -- Thanks for confirming that your course is functioning properly via tempshare.articulate.com. As such, I'd recommend that you'd contact support for the site on which you course is being accessed and ask if there have been any other reports of similar behavior. You are also welcome to stop back in and let us know what response you receive, and if there is anything more we can do to assist, we will gladly do so.
Weirdly, I just tried to show my colleague the difference, and it now seems to pause the audio but not the screen recording in the tempshare location too! I'm not sure I tried every slide in the elearning! Bad Simon!
I can only assume it's to do with the way that Storyline 2 is recording the screen.
Here's the file in tempshare:
http://s3.amazonaws.com/tempshare-stage.storyline.articulate.com/sto_1ajorio5cmdv30conoej315qh9/story.html
The problem occurs some 4 or 5 slides in.
I'll try some recording some different applications too.
I've got a workaround.
Add a white-filled shape, with 99% transparency, over the screencast. That seems to prevent the user from clicking and pausing.
Not ideal, but it's a start.
Hi, Simon -- Thanks so much for stopping back in with an update, and for sharing the workaround you have discovered. If you continue to have difficulties and would prefer to reach out to our Support Engineers for additional technical insights, here is the form you would need to submit a case. :)
Hi Christie -- Thanks for the assistance, and the link to submit a case.
