HTML5 issues when viewed on Chrome

Aug 09, 2017

I have been seeing issues with content when viewing the html5 version for a while now, so have always tried to make sure flash is installed and used. But with flash being phased out slowly being unsupported by multiple browsers, I am getting more and more clients reporting these issues to us.

- One of the issues we have seen is that when you are running through your course, you may randomly see the player next and back buttons appear at the bottom of the screen (even though they have been turned off, as we are using our own buttons for navigation).

- Another issue we have seen is that if the automatic slide numbering Storyline adds to your slide when you create it, doesn't follow the order of the slide navigation you have setup, the learner may randomly get taken to the next slide (as per this automatic numbering) rather than the slide which has been setup in the triggers panel. I am thinking this may relate back to my first point, but you cant actually see the player navigation buttons in this instance, but they are being activated anyway.

- The third issue we have encountered is that when viewing content as html5, you may randomly get slides where all of your images are no longer visible. The only things visible are storyline text, shapes and captions, but all png/jpg images are no longer visible. If there are links on any of these images, you will still see the hand cursor appear where the image should be, but the image is not visible on screen.

All of the issues I have highlighted above are intermittent and are not consistent on any one page. I would be great to get this issue sorted out sooner rather than later, due to the increased number of our clients now experiencing these issues.

I am currently using the latest update of Storyline 2 on Windows 10, but have just this morning downloaded Storyline 3 and am still seeing the issues explained above.

Hi there Jo, and welcome to Heroes!

I'm sorry you and your clients are running into these issues, but I'm happy to help. 😀

I did some research, and I'm not seeing any reported issues that match what you're seeing in your file. That being said, I'd love to have a closer look at your file and take it for a test drive on my end. Would you mind sharing it with me? If you'd rather keep it private, click here!

Also, is your published project hosted on a web server or a learning management system (LMS)? I want to make sure I test it in the same type of environment you're using. Thanks!

Have just submitted file, If you could keep the content private, that would be great.
