HTML5 not loading in Firefox

Oct 05, 2017

Hello,

Our articulate files are played through an i-frame modal. Our previous versions of A2 had no issues, however when testing A3 outputs the file will only load the first time the item is launched. Afterwards it will only give the infinite-spinning loading screen. The only way to get it to work again is to refresh the webpage or right click > this frame > reload frame.

I've tested with all different outputs. It seems to be having issues with HTML5 but also isn't falling back to Flash as it should.

This isn't a problem in IE or Chrome either.

Any ideas?

Hi Brandon,

If the browser can play HTML5 content, it won't fall back to Flash. It'll only present you with the Flash output if HTML5 isn't an option.

As for the way it's behaving in Firefox - have you tested it outside of the iframe set up you have? It sounds like that combination isn't allowing the course to load again as expected. If you wanted to test somewhere else, look at uploading to Tempshare. That'll give you a URL to test with that'll be live for 10 days.

Unfortunately our web filter blocks Tempshare otherwise I would share it. Because we play the files in an i-frame and the issue is having to do with launching the i-frame a 2nd time, sharing just the story file wouldn't help that much. I'll continue to work with Firefox and my web team and if we find a solution I'll post back here.

Thanks Ashley!

Hi Mirna,

We never found a definitive solution. At the time, I was only given Storyline 3.0 to test for my team. After we decided to upgrade, we updated from Storyline 3.0 to 3.3 and it seems to have fixed the problem. Before that, I was able to get it to load sometimes by clearing the browser cache, but eventually the issue would come back. It looks like they addressed a lot of HTML5 issues from version 3.0 to 3.3.

If you have 3.3 and are still experiencing this issue, definitely post on the forums. Their support team is usually pretty quick to respond and very willing to help in any way they can.

I hope this helps.

Hello, I am using Storyline 3 and my files when published won't open in Firefox (71.0 (32-bit), latest version). I am not using iframes. I cleared the browser cash but that doesn't seem to work. My coworkers are experiencing the same issue. No problem opening the files in Google Chrome. Can you please advise? Thank you in advance!
