HTML5 Output Compatibility with Google Chrome 44
Jul 24, 2015
On July 22, 2015, Google released Chrome 44 for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This unfortunately introduced an issue with the HTML5 output of Articulate Storyline 1, Storyline 2, and Studio ’13. While the large majority of courses utilize the Flash output when running in Chrome, we recognize that the HTML5 option is critical and have updated our software to rectify the issue. Please download and install this free update to your software as soon as possible so that the HTML5 output for all the courses you create going forward functions properly in Google Chrome.
Here are the links to download the updated versions:
Please note, if you have the “Check for updates” option enabled in your Articulate software, it will automatically notify you that the new version is available.
Please use the update utility for existing courses that require HTML5 output for Chrome. The utility will automatically update your courses so you won’t have to republish each course individually. For step-by-step instructions, please view the appropriate Chrome 44 Updater support article (Storyline 1, Storyline 2).
We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Hello,
Does Articulate have an ETA on this utility? We have 1000s of users that use Mobile Chrome daily. I just need to know if we should repub the courses or wait.
Thanks
Hi Aaron,
I don't have an ETA on the updater - but we'll keep you posted as soon as we have additional information to share. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
I'm trying to share a Storyline 2 course for mobile devices on my google drive and can't get this to work. Is this part of my issue? Can I get this to work? I'd like to be able to view the course from either an ipad or android devices. Can someone help me through this?
Hi Darlesa,
Are you using the latest update of Storyline? If so, that could be part of the issue you're running into using the latest version of Chrome. You can download the updates using the links above, and then look at publishing the course again. Also, please be aware we offer support for the HTML5 output on the following browsers/systems.
Thanks so much. I got it to work :)

Great news Darlesa - and just an FYI, replying via email includes your signature here. You're welcome to edit the post and remove it if you wish, but it's not a problem for us. :-)

I hope we will get updater as early as possible to avoid republishing.
Hi Ravindra,
Thanks for reaching out here, and we'll keep folks posted once we have additional information to share.
hello,
We have a client that has approximately 100 articulate files that are not working currently in chrome. is there an easier way which will update the files. Or are we going to have to re-publish all the files and then re-upload them into the server.
Hi Genna,
I don't have a timeframe to share but I know our team is actively working on this, so we'll keep you posted here once we have an update to share. Thanks for your patience and please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.
Any update on the ETA on this utility?
Hi Evelyn,
Thanks for checking in. I don't have an ETA but our team is continuing to do some additional testing so we'll keep you posted.
Hey Guys,
Out of curiosity, have you heard of anyone having issues with IE11 post-modification? We have a client that updated their course that fixed Chrome, but it is not launching in IE11 now.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,
I haven't heard anything about IE11 - but I'm curious if it's only this one so far that is problematic or if you're seeing it in other courses as well? Does it launch the blank page or just doesn't open?
Hi all,
The Articulate Updater for Chrome has been released and scans and updates your published courses so HTML5 output will work in Google Chrome 44 and later. (For new courses, install the latest update for your authoring app.)
You can read the directions here on how to use the updater for Storyline.
Dont work for me, i install updater and publish my course and player_compiled.js continue with this.renderTimer.style.opacity="1"
or i need install updater and reboot my pc?
Hi Jhon,
The Updater fixes courses that have already been published. To publish new courses that automatically work with Chrome 44, be sure to install the latest software update for Storyline.
I no updates, all updates full, pls view attach, and attach to game publish
and no work html5 in chrome 44
Hi Jhon,
If you're still having difficulty after installing the latest update and using the updater for previously published courses I think it'll be best to have you continue working with our Support team. Please reach out here, and let them know what troubleshooting steps you've already gone through here.
Please view 19800-Balloon-Pop-Storyline-Game.storytemplate in latest post, and view screenshot attach in this post
We are having trouble with Storyline files that worked in IE 8 and IE11 are 80% not visible and do not play well. I re-open and re-save and re-published them in Storyline 2. But now they do not work in Chrome. I am getting rather anxious about it.
We use Storyline in a pilot fase, looking good, but it has to be reliable. Don't let us down!
I do not understand how the 'Articulate Updater for Chrome' works. Does it fix affect Chrome ore Articulate (Storyline or other)?
With ETA you mean 'Estimated Time of Arrival' of the sollution?
