I am trying to write a custom trigger

Aug 08, 2013

i am trying to replicate a tabs interaction page

where if a button is selected and shows a layer, when i return to the base layer or progress to another layer the pre-selected button is a different color (to indicate visited)

I have attempted to use the following triger

Action = Change state of

On Object = Button 1

To State = Visited

When = user clicks

Object = Button 1

through trial and error i have been able to have the shape of the button change (border different)

if i use the following

Action = Change state of

On Object = Button 1

To State = selected

When = user clicks

Object = Button 1

however i would like the color of the button to change is there a way i can achieve this

You dont need to set up triggers for a visited state.  It is built in to Storyline.

You do need to make or edit a state called visited in the states panel by the timeline.  Click on your object or button and click the states tab by the timeline.  Buttons have states pre made that you can change by clicking "Edit states".  Objects you have to add a state by clicking the page looking button.  it will ask for a name and it you type in visited it will do what you are after.

Edit the visited states to what color you want and you should have the effect you need without triggers to change to a visited state.

I have attached an example.
