That is strange. Have you tried restarting the machine? Try to only open the programs you need when you're recording an inserting videos as the other programs may be taking up your system resources.
Make sure that your project file (the file that's open when you're recording your screen) is on your local hard drive.
Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

If that doesn't help, you may want to check to make sure you're using the correct DPI on your machine. Storyline will function as expected when Windows is set to 96 DPI (dots per inch).Storyline doesn't currently support 120 DPI. If your system is set to 120 DPI, you may experience erratic behavior.

I was using an older computer with Windows XP, and I needed to uninstall and reinstall an older version of Storyline: fully functional, but backward compatible.

Here's how you can switch to 96 DPI:

Hi Christine,
I uninstalled, ran the batch file, reinstalled, checked the dpi, used my C drive ... and I still have the same problem?
When I use the record feature, I record 3-5 seconds and it actually shows minutes of time and freezes when I try to insert it into a slide.
Do you have the ability to videoconference so you can see what is happening?
Thanks - especially for your rapid response!!
Chris
