I haven't heard of something specific to screencasts not playing in IE9, and you mentioned "sometimes" - are you able to determine under what conditions it occurs? Is the course hosted in a web server, LMS, etc? Have you checked to see if the behavior persists in other browsers, on other computers, with different Flash versions?
