Image not resetting to original state after clicking

Aug 26, 2014

Hello, hopefully a simple question for you. I have been playing with changing states for mousing over, and am stumped as to why my images alter their states after clicking through them and don't revert back.

The plan was to have four photos on a Meet the Leadership Team slide, and when you hover over one, their image enlarges and their title appears beneath (I called this their 'Title' state). When you move your mouse away, they return to their normal state. Then, when you click on the image (or even a hotspot over the image) it takes you to a new layer/slide/lightbox where you see a larger image of them and read about who they are. When you are done, you go back to the original slide.

That is where the issue is... when you go back to the original slide, their photo is now stuck in the larger state and does not revert. I had been having issues with the clicked images disappearing altogether when you return to the original slide, but somehow managed to fix that one.

I've tried triggers to reset the state on clicking, when creating the mouse over trigger I made sure the box for 'Restore on mouse leave' is checked, and I have tried using layers, new slides and lightboxes for the information I am linking to it. The only way I can avoid the issue is just by having the user click next, next, next, next and avoiding returning to the original slide.

What rookie mistake am I making here? Thank you in advance!

PS - Attaching the scene in case it helps.

I am not sure whether I am annoyed at myself or proud of myself for having come across this issue... proud of the fact that it wasn't all me and that I managed to identify a possible software flaw, but annoyed that I just spent so long trying to find a work around before posting on here.

This community is brilliant and I appreciate you both taking the time to not only read my post and respond, but play around with the file and find a solution! Michael - this works beautifully now, thank you. At some point I had tried the trigger to reset it, but believe I had left it at the bottom of the list of triggers for each item, so it was lowest priority. Will go into my original file and replicate the fix. Brilliant.

Leslie - would be keen to hear what your QA Team come back with.

Thanks again! KC.

Hello again! **Yes, I broke it**

After a lot of tweaking with my project, I ended up inserting a layer over the top with a 'Continue' button on it. This was to make sure they viewed each of the leadership slides before moving on to the next part.  For some reason now though, the photos are displaying as the increased 'title' size after clicking again and not reverting to normal size. I considered leaving it and moving on, as they look nice nestled together when you click them in order, left to right, but as people do, they may click on them in a random order, and well, that just don't look aesthetically pleasing to me. Plus it's lazy. Try as I might , I can't fix the issue.

May I add, that this was working beautifully in Storyline 1, and has only happened since moving into Storyline 2? I had to edit two of the 'title' states (Judith and Ben) as their name and title box had shrunk and needed resizing, but the screen shot I took of them prior to upgrading looks perfectly sized (see attached). Thanking you in advance! AGAIN. KC
