Importing Help--Story Size Issues

Aug 19, 2014

I am trying to import a rather lengthy Storyling project into a fresh Storyline file project. My original is 600x400. What I am doing is opening a blank project, converting the size of the project to match my original of 600 x 400, then attemptingo to import all of the slides and scenes.

Each time I import, the sizing is all off. My pics and text boxes all need to be moved and resized. The story size is no longer 600x400. So there are a TON of edits that would have to be done to make this work.

Where am I going wrong? How can I get my files to import into the proper size so I don't have to re-do everything upon import?

Thanks!

Hi Rita,

This should work as expected - and if you're having difficulty, I'd want to suggest looking further at the story size settings you've used - specifically what to do in the following sections:

  1. In the section called If new size is larger, choose one of the following:
    • Scale To Fit: This scales the contents of your slides to fit proportionately within the new size.
    • Fill Background: This retains the current slide background and applies it to the new size, but it doesn't resize your slide content. If you choose this, you'll also need to use the Story Position selector to choose where on the slide you want your existing content to appear.
  2. In the section called If new size is smaller, choose one of the following:
    • Scale To Fit: This scales the contents of your slides to fit proportionately within the new size.
    • Crop: This crops your content to fit within the new size. Click Next to use the cropping tool to choose the crop area of each slide

You'll also want to confirm that you're importing from a local .story file and then saving it to your local drive.
