Incorporating Animations

Sep 14, 2020

Hello,

I am looking for some advice or tips on inserting animations into Storyline. We are looking to include a lot of externally built animations in our courses. This would include multiple animations that we can layer to create a scene.

As far as I can see we have two options, each with limitations:

1. Video - Insert as videos but video transparency will be lost so layering will not work

2. Web objects - Insert as web object but you can only see the animations in the published course

Has anyone done something similar and found a good way of working?

Thanks

Jody

Hi Tom,

We are currently in the planning phase but the concept is to have a collection of animations in the following categories

  • Scenes - So backgrounds, places and spaces
  • Objects and props
  • Characters - in various poses and emotions

We could then pick and build our own scenes. Our in house animator works in Adobe Indesign and Animate. I think they also used LottieFiles to deploy the Indesign animations.

We have used tools like Vyond before but management are keen to have something in-house and on completely on brand.
