Incorrect information passed back to LMS

Jun 14, 2016

We've had a situation arise on one of our Storyline 2 courses (it's an old well tested course) where a learner left the course early (after module one of three), having answered the questions in that module correctly.  On doing so the LMS picked up incorrectly that the learner had completed the course and scored 100%.

The course/LMS is set to report on the final results slide so how could this have happened?!  We can re-set for one person but we obviously don't want it to happen again....

tc, I know you said that this is a well tested course, but I believe (if it were me) that I'd start troubleshooting by launching the course myself and quitting after module 1 in order to see if this behavior can be duplicated.

If you can duplicate the issue then it's possible that the course has worked this way the whole time, but the issue is just now coming to the surface.

Without seeing your .story file it's hard to say what might be happening with your results slides, but if you're able to duplicate the issue then the second place I'd look is at the result slides to see if there's something wrong with the way they are configured in your course.

Thanks Brian.  I've been testing in the Scorm cloud and can see that, as you predicted, this has always been the case but it HAS only just come to light.  The only problem is that the results slides are set up the same as all our other courses but wherever this course quits the score is 100% (if all the questions have been answered correctly) ie. it scores each question individually rather than on the full question set as governed by the last results slide.  I am transferring all the content into a blank course and testing it again!

Hi, TC G -- Thanks for your reply, and so sorry to hear of your troubles! May I ask if you are able to share the name of the LMS provider you are using in case others have experienced the same trouble and are able to share their experiences? And you would also be welcome to upload your file if you'd like others to take a look, as well.
