Incorrect score and completion reported if course is closed and resumed.

Sep 26, 2017

I have a results slides that pulls from multiple question banks. If I close the course without having completed all the question banks and then try to resume, the score and completion are reported incorrectly. Even when I know I am scoring 100%.

Error is happening in SCORM Cloud, Asentia LMS, & Docebo.

It needs to be published for SCORM 1.2, Passed/Failed, HTML5 only, and have bookmarking ("prompt to resume" or "always resume").

I believe the incorrect status being reported is related to bookmarking because when I change the setting to "never resume" and take the course all the way through without closing, it reports to the LMS as expected.

plz halp, thx

Looks as though this is a known issue. 5 days ago, at the end of this thread, a staff member writes:

We do have an issue reported where the score is incorrect when the course is resumed and the questions span scenes. Workarounds listed are to place questions in one scene and/or use the Flash output.

These workarounds don't work for my particular situation. GUH, this isn't going to go over well with client.

Hi Megan,

Yes, we're aware of an issue where the score resets on resume if Question Bank is set as “When revisiting: Resume initial state”. We've shared this with our team as a possible software bug and I'll include this discussion in the report filed with our team.

In the meantime, the workaround shared was to place all the questions in one scene, use Flash or change the When revisiting state to "Automatically decide"Did you try that last one?

I’ll let you know as soon as we have an update on this issue. I’m really sorry it's slowing you down and causing issues with your clients.

Hey Ashley, Hey Crystal,

All the questions are set to 'resume to saved state' now and all the slides have been placed into one giant scene. For extra caution, I removed the questions from their banks.

Good news, the course is reporting the correct score and completion status on resume since these workarounds were implemented and it's working in both HTML5 only and Flash as fallback publishes.

I can only share the file privately. Did you still want to look at my file?

Cool thanks!

out of curiosity, was this issue resolved in a future build? I think I may be having it currently in Storyline 3 but I would have assumed it was fixed. I've got ~20 pools with 54 questions being asked (about 90 pooled)  and bookmarking is enabled. If I answer 46 correct, SCORM cloud is only showing me that I've got a 53%.  The course is bookmarked and has been closed and reopened.

Hi there, Becky!

The issue in Storyline where the quiz score resets on resume if the question bank is set to 'When revisiting: Resume initial state.' is still open.

If that matches your settings: Changing the revisit behavior to 'Automatically decide' should do the trick. I'll also add your experience to our report so we can notify you of any changes in this bug's status!

If that's not quite it: Are you comfortable with sharing your file for testing? You can send it privately to us by using this link. We'll verify whether that bug is affecting your course or if something else is lurking here, and delete the file after!

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share that we are no longer seeing this bug, Score resets on resume if Question Bank is set as “When revisiting: Resume initial state”, in our latest version of Storyline 360.

I'd recommend using Storyline 360 (Build 3.61.27106.0) or later.

You can reach out to our Support Team in this discussion or privately in a support case.

Hi SibaPrasad,

Thanks for reaching out!

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. Are you able to share a project file with our team so we can investigate further? You can upload it here or privately in a support case. We'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.
