"Insert" creates text box, radio button that is unusable

Aug 28, 2014

I am trying to add a simple radio button or text box to a slide, and all I see is a vertical rectangle that disappears off the slide. When I try to resize the object, which defaults to 8191 px high by 61 px wide, the program ignores my entry. I am using the 30-day trial and it also consistently crashes on me when I try to add new things (yes, I have plenty of RAM and a laptop that is less than a year old.)

Hi Margo and welcome to Heroes,

I'm sorry to hear about the behavior when trying to insert items into Storyline. I'd like you to check on a few elements for us and let us know if those resolve the behavior:

If after checking into those, the files are still behaving oddly, something may have occurred during the install so you'll want to conduct the repair of Storyline detailed here.

Thanks. I'm working on my computer's hard drive and saving my projects to my desktop. No special characters are being used.

Tried setting the DPI to "small" as described but now I can barely even see what I'm doing. It was small to begin with.

Tried editing at a zoom of 100%. Still too small to see what I'm doing. I tried changing my resolution via my graphics card settings but the default 2560 x 1440 seems to be the only one that works.

Still crashes when I try to add a quiz slide or similar.

Hi Margo,

The DPI setting and the slide zoom are both things that you'll want to use to ensure that Storyline functions as designed. I know that on higher resolution monitors it can appear much smaller, and that's something a few users have shared in the form of a feature request in regards to having the ability to work at different DPI or zoom settings, and you're welcome and encouraged to share your thoughts there as well.

As for the constant crashing, if it is occurring every time you try to add a new quiz slide or any slide, I'd begin by having you conduct the repair detailed here.
