I have inserted several videos each on its own layer. The videos splash screen is visible in the course, see example 1. However, when I preview or publish, the splash screen is grey with the text 'video', see example 2. I have re-published the videos (from a third party software) and re-inserted with no joy.
I see what you're referring to! For your second example, this is how a video will display in Preview. What is interesting is that it's being displayed that way after publishing!
I'm having some trouble recreating this oddity in a test Storyline 360 (Update 33), so I'll need your help!
What version of Storyline 360 are you using? Also, would you be willing to share your .story file with me for testing? I'd like to peek under the hood and see if I can identify the cause.

I previewed and published the entire course to LMS (since this was the publish setting used in the file) using Storyline 360, Update 33. Here's a link to the content hosted on SCORM Cloud!
I'm also seeing the gray video behavior on a few 'Creating Notes' sections in the published output. Your setup looks great, which should not result in this behavior in either environment!
I'd like to get a second opinion from our Support Engineers and have created a case on your behalf with my notes attached. Someone from the team will be in touch shortly with some next steps to try, and I'll follow along!
