I only have one scene with two slides. The first slide is an imported title slide from a PowerPoint presentation. The second slide is a custom title slide where I insert the WMV widescreen. The inserted video is 7 minutes long and plays fine outside of Storyline. All I have to do is play the video in Storyline: the video area goes green, I hear the audio for about 5 seconds, and the program locks up. The only way out is to use Task Manager to kill it. What's up with that? My company is reinstalling the software now to see if that helps.
First, you'll want to double check that you're working with local project files for your .story file and the WMV file. Working on a network or USB drive can cause erratic behavior. Additionally, are you testing the published version? You'll want to test within the intended environment as testing locally can also cause odd behavior.
Ashley: Thanks for the reply. I'm using Storyline Update 2: 1212.1412. I do everything on the C drive, including Publish then copy up to a server. Amazingly, a complete restart of my PC fixed the issue! The only problem is that I still lost all my work. So: advice for Storyline users: make sure that you OFTEN do a "SAVE AS" with a different version name so that you have an earlier ".story" file to go back to if something happens like it happened to me.
Thanks for the update, but I'm sorry to hear you've lost your work. Is there a particular reason you're using Storyline Update 2? Update 3 was released here in May, and there were a number of other fixes in there, although no auto save feature, so your thought to save often is still a good one.
