Interactions not on the tracked results slide are being reported to the LMS
Mar 13, 2018
We have several courses with 3 results slides. Based on the path a user chooses he will take a quiz from a question bank and a results slide displays his score. He then goes through a few final screens one of which is a fill-in-the-blank question that is answered automatically based on the path he took. The results slide for that question is used to track completion for the course because we want to run a report to see the path that users took to go through the course.
The problem is that we get an intermittent user whose quiz results from the question bank also get reported. The clients LMS is Oracle. We have to publish to SCORM 1.2. How can a results slide that is not being used to track results send interaction data to the LMS?

Hi Charlie! Thanks for your description. That behavior is outside of what I'd expect. The inconsistency doesn't make sense, either.
What results are you seeing from the question bank? Is it question data, or an overall score, or something else?
I'd like to see your setup if you can share your file here.
Hi Crystal,
I agree totally. It is not what we expect and it doesn’t make sense.
I am checking with the client to see if I can share the file with you. In the meantime I can give you some more details.
* We published it using Storyline 2 (I will upgrade the project to SL3 to see if that eliminates the problem).
* It looks like iPads are the problem machines. Other browsers report fine in SCORM Cloud. It is the iPad that sends the extra data.
* We are getting data for the question bank answers (which should not be reported) AND a fill-in-the blank question which is the results slide that should be reported.

Crystal,
I upgraded the SL file to SL3 and published it. Tested on SCORM Cloud with an iPad and it seems to have eliminated the reporting issue.

Interesting...thanks for the update and those extra details around the iPad, Charlie.
If you're able to share the original SL2 file with your client's permission, I'd be happy to test it out and see if we've got an issue with that version to address. If you need to keep your client's course private, use this link to upload it.
