IPAD related queries

Jun 14, 2012

I have few clarifications with respect to content loading in IPAD. I have referred to few links in the Support section.

1. IPAD - Safari browswer - video is not loading automatically. If i give a trigger will it work?

2. We created some HTML 5 inter activities and we inserted that as a web object in Story line it is working perfectly in PC but not working in IPAD what could be the potential reason for that.?

3. User created or defined buttons like HELP & EXIT is not loading in IPAD? I have given help as a light box slide with a storyline-engage interaction and Exit is given through a trigger to exit the course.

Our end user will not have the mobile app so we are restricted to publishing the output in HTML 5.  Also, I would like to know the launch file that i need to give if I publish the output for HTML 5.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

This link might help you. It lists the SL features that are supported in the different platforms.

As for the launch file, you should give them the story.html file - Storyline will automatically determine which of the published formats to launch.

Hi there Ragunathakrishnan! Maybe this will help a little:

1. IPAD - Safari browser - video is not loading automatically. If i give a trigger will it work?

When you  select the video on the slide, go to the Options tab on the toolbar and make sure "Play Video" is set to "Automatically." If that still doesn't work, perhaps your slide contains simultaneous audio/video? If so, unfortunately that's not supported in HTML5. If that's not the culprit, and you feel like something about the video is not behaving the way it should, you're welcome to upload your project file here so that a support engineer can take a look.

2. We created some HTML 5 inter activities and we inserted that as a web object in Story line it is working perfectly in PC but not working in IPAD what could be the potential reason for that.?

Web objects are supported in HTML5, but if the web object contains any items that aren't supported in HTML5 (such as Flash content), then the web object won't display properly.

3. User created or defined buttons like HELP & EXIT is not loading in IPAD? I have given help as a light box slide with a storyline-engage interaction and Exit is given through a trigger to exit the course.

If your Help button opens a lightbox that contains imported content from Articulate Engage, that content won't display because it is Flash, which isn't supported in HTML5. This is mentioned in the document that Nancy referred to above. Also the document mentions that the Exit Course trigger is not currently supported in HTML5.

Also, I would like to know the launch file that i need to give if I publish the output for HTML 5.

You can just give users the link to your story.html file, and users will automatically get directed to the HTML5 content if their browser or device does not support Flash.

Coming bak after a long time to this thread

I have kept the Notes tab in the left side after the menu tab; but it is not showing in the IPAD however, if placed on the right side next or before the resources tab it is getting displayed in the IPAD.

Also, help button is not showing up in IPAD, it is placed to the right side and if clicked it should display a PDF. Perfectly workin in PC but in IPAD, the help button is not getting displayed at all.
