Is Articulate Storyline 2 still available for purchase?

We're onboarding a new member of our eLearning team and will need to purchase a new Articulate Storyline license for this new user. 

However, all of our current team members have AS2. From what I understand, AS3 files aren't compatible with AS2, meaning our eLearning developers who have AS2 can't work with any files that were created by their peers who are using AS3.

Is it possible to purchase an AS2 license or will our AS2 users be forced to upgrade to AS3?

Sorry our Sales team hasn't been able to get back to you yet! We've got a lot of people really excited about Storyline 3 and Articulate 360 so it's been a bit higher volume than we're used too. 😉 

Storyline 2 is no longer available for purchase on the site as you found out, but I'll reach out to our team and make sure they got your email so that they can talk through the specifics of your situation!

I am a developer and most of my clients use Storyline 2.  I need to purchase Storyline 2 as they cannot edit etc if I create it in Storyline 360 or 3.  I have tried contacting the sales team and they have said it is not available.  They suggested I have my clients change their version, which is not something I can do.

This is extremely disappointing that I cannot purchase Storyline 2 even though I will also be purchasing 360.  How are we meant to develop modules for our clients if we are not able to purchase the software they require us to use? Our clients will be forced to go to a competitor to get the modules they desire which then costs us money. 

Can you please advise if there is anything I can do to resolve this issue?

Hi Ville,

You can download Storyline 2 from our downloads page here - but each license is specific to an individual and non-transferrable. I know there are scenarios (such as someone leaving the company) that our team is happy to grant the one time transfer too. Reach out here, and they'll help and make sure your serial number is all set!

I have the same requirement. I would love to buy Storyline 2 As majority of my clients will not be updating to the next version at this moment in time. They still want their  elearns to be updated.


I have tried to send a request to your sales team but not sure if it has been successful.
