Is it possible to close a lightbox and exit the course at the same time?

Dec 14, 2017

I am using Storyline 3 and I have a module where I've set up an auto-timeout that exits the course before the connection to the LMS is lost.

The problem I'm experiencing is that when the course resumes, it will return to the lightbox and immediately re-exit the program.  I've set two slide triggers:

1. Close lightbox when timeline starts

2. Exit course when timeline starts.

However, I can't get it to do both steps at the same time.  It will only do whichever is on top in the trigger window.

I feel like I'm missing something simple here.  How do I enable the user to resume the course and not immediately have it exit again?

Thanks,

Liam

So I've come up with a possible solution, but it has led to a new problem.  It involves using a new variable and a new slide master custom to the lightbox.

In the lightbox slide, just before the course exits, the variable changes. (see 0:24 in video below)

On the slide master I have a "Close lightbox" trigger when the timeline starts, if that other variable has been changed.

The problem I'm having is that the variable is changing before the course exits - however, when the course loads, the variable has reverted back.  (see 0:29 below)

Here is a demonstration of what I mean:

Any suggestions or ideas on this?

Thanks in advance.

Just as a follow up for anyone else who comes across this.

Renato was able to provide some information to me:

1. You cannot close a lightbox and exit a course at the same time.  You much close the lightbox first.

2. Variables will only be set when you move to a new slide.

Both of these things are expected Storyline behavior.
