There is a find/replace feature in Storyline. You can check out the details here. I'm not sure that a single letter or formatting is possible using this functionality though.
I can use the find feature to hunt down the single letters, but not to change the formatting. However, being able to find all letters at all is helpful.
haven't tried myself, but could you export the content to word like using the translation feature, change the text to italic and then import back in? Maybe try with a small test file to see if that would work.
