Is there a better way to update my screen captures?
Dec 31, 2013
I'm creating eLearning for a client's software, and the screen captures will need to be updated periodically. I initially updated them by re-capturing a sequence of steps, inserted them into an existing scene, and then cut/pasted from the original slides into the new ones (captions, graphics, etc) and re-added the appropriate layers. This, of course, is a bit time-consuming (but less than re-creating all of those items).
Is there a faster way to do this? Can I somehow replace the original background image (the software screen captures) on the initial slides while keeping the additional items?
Thanks!

Hi Rebecca,
I don't think there is any easier/faster way of accomplishing what you're looking for, and think you'll need to continue with the method you described of re-capturing those steps and inserting them into the scene.
I know I'm very late to the game here, but if you only need to replace a screen w/ an almost exact copy, you can insert an image (screen cap of the new) and then send it backward so you can still use your original screen elements. This is helpful is a UI changes only slightly.
That's a good tip Nancy - thanks for sharing it here.
Thanks Ashley! I was actually just trying to figure out a good way to decide if I wanted to insert screen captures using the View mode or the Try mode and came across this question and had a tip... however, I still haven't found an answer to my question... do you know of an article that has a side-by-side comparison of the two so I can determine which mode best fits my needs?
Hi Nancy,
You may want to review the tutorials here on working with screen recordings.
