Is there a way to get rid of the player chrome and keep accessibility features?

Jul 10, 2023

I need to create a player that provides the necessary accessibility features (CC, full screen, play/pause, volume, etc.) but would like to do away with any of the chrome (black frame) around the slide. I know the classic player does it but I don't see a way for the modern player to do it. Ultimately, I'd like a player bar that disappears until you roll over it (the same way the video controls work on the video objects). Is there any way to do this in the tool or through coding?

Hi Julie,

Great question! I understand you'd like to know if there is a way to remove the black from the modern player and if you can set the player bar to only appear when you scroll over them. I'd be happy to get some information about those questions to you!

First, the modern player is built to be scalable. When you change the size of the browser the size of the black frame will change with it. We currently don't have a way to completely remove the frame from the modern player but that sounds like an interesting idea that I can share with our product team.

Next, we currently have revealing the player bar when you scroll over it logged as a feature request, so I’ll go ahead and include your voice. We’ll update this discussion if there’s any news regarding this feature. I'll leave the question open to the E-Learning Heroes community to see if there are any coding options for this.

Thanks for reaching out!

Hi Julie,

I wanted to reach out to you because I thought of a workaround that can make the black frame in the modern player a little less noticeable. You can change the color of the frame to match the slides in your course. Here's a quick Peek video on how to do that.

I hope this helps you out!
