Is there a way to have the music carry through the entire project, without starting over with each slide? There is a catch -  I have 2 videos embedded, so the music must stop in those two slides.

I have to publish a project on our website. Two of the slides have embedded micro-videos.  I would like the music to carry through the entire project except in those two slides where the videos are. Any suggestion?

Hi there, Mery!

I'm not sure if this is already a standard feature in Storyline but there's a handful of work around available on this thread and also this thread here.

There's an option where you can add one audio file to play for the entire project by inserting it from the master slide but what happens is that it plays the audio from the beginning for each slide, which I don't think is what you want to achieve here.

If you ask me, I think you can also break your audio into several pieces which you then attach to each slide except those slides where you don't want them in. May require a lot of work and setting up timing.

Alternatively, you can insert the same audio file on each slide except those with videos then edit within Storyline's audio editor. Say on your first slide you trim the audio to just play the first 30 seconds. Then on your next slide, trim the audio to continue from 00:31 seconds and end at a particular time. Then continue on to the next slides skipping the 2 slides where you don't need the audio added. Something like that I believe could also work.

Well, do check out those threads I mentioned and I hope you find the right work around for your project.

Cheers!

Hi again, Mery!

I was just browsing through Youtube and came across this video on how to add a background music to you Storyline project with the help of Javascript, I remembered you here so I thought to share this work around with you.

Considering your concern with a couple of slides that contain videos where you don't want the background music to continue playing, this Youtube video mentioned something about adding buttons that could trigger to pause/play or minimize/maximize the volume of the audio which I thought you could add into those 2 slides so learners can click on them to control the background music while they watch the videos on those slides.

I'm sure there's many more ideas out there from our community heroes and I'm also looking forward to hearing about them.

Cheers!
