I am writing to inquire if there is a standard way to end a course. When I publish courses into the LMS, the users finish the course but have to close out the window. Sometimes, the courses are not recognized as complete by the LMS. Is there a setting that I am missing. Is there a special slide required to close out courses? Please advise.
Most of the courses I have create have quizzes and usually record a result. However, sometimes the LMS does not record the result. I am wondering if it is my course design or the LMS? I have save all courses in a SCORM 1.2 format. Could it have anything to do with the sequencing of slides in the side menu?
I have had some issues with using Tin Can API, but I've always found SCORM 1.2 to be reliable. Are you setting your tracking/reporting to the results page of the quiz?
You might want to contact your LMS company, it might be an issue with them.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but Linda I just wanted to ask what about problems you've had using Tin Can. Part of my job is helping people to use Tin Can, so I'd me more than happy to help if I can.
If you like you can let us know the details at info@tincanapi.com or perhaps better, post a thread in this forum for others to benefit and then send me a link.
All the best and Robin I wish you all the best with your SCORM issue. You may find some answers with the 'Ask us anything' button on http://scorm.com too.
I always use the "exit" trigger to end the course. If you do not use a quiz but are recording completion based on number of slides viewed, I have found that it is better to set that number to be something less than the full number of slides in the course. That is prevented most of the failure to record issues with our LMS.
Thanks Andrew, I just sent an email to the address above. I didn't post it in the forums because I gave a link to the file that I'm having issues with and it is proprietary.

Do you end the course with a quiz, or by number of pages viewed? Either of those should be recognized by the LMS.

Thanks for the insight!
I think these are great! Can I use these? Especially the Ferris Bueller!
