Is this a Presenter to Storyline2 importing issue: multiple lines of bullet points w/multiple fades end up as one fade animation
Nov 19, 2014
Hello,
I'm new to using Storyline2 and Studio. I have to update an old e-learning module that was originally created in an older version of Studio by another developer. All the screens are full of bullet pointed lines of text with each line of text on a screen having it's own fade animation to be in sync with the narration (I can't redesign this, just updating the module for a client ...but I don't agree with this kind of slide-u-ment presentation). I don't have the audio yet so those animations haven't been synced with audio.
The problem is, when I imported this into Storyline2 each screen now only has one fade animation assigned to the textbox. It seems that Storyline is saying: "Sorry you only can only assign one animation to one textbox". Is this a known issue and there is nothing I can do, or is there some way around this? Because now I have to copy and re-paste and manually align each line of text on a screen, and then assign each line of text it's own faded animation.
I hope I explained that well enough.
Brian

HI Brian
have you checked the animation options in the ribbon - e.g. fade in, by paragraph or as one object. I haven't tested but 'by paragraph' may bring the bullet points in one at a time
Hi Wendy. That separated the fade animations for each bullet points. Thanks!
I don't have the audio yet. Once I get the audio how will I adjust/sync a screen's various fades with the related points in the narration? Because it seems this text is considered one thing on the timeline. If there is a tutorial on syncing in Storyline I recon I can just find that.
Hi Brian
I found this tutorial - if you look at step 3 --> it talks about syncing animations to audio - using cue points on the timeline. Hope that helps. I'm sure there are other tutorials available - you can use the search function in the forum to find more

Ah never mind, I found in another thread where to find the individual lines of text. I click on the eye for that text box and it shows the sub lines underneath I can move around on the time line.
Thanks for updating the thread Brian and glad you got this figured out!
