Issue reporting scores to LMS

Mar 11, 2021

Hello! I need my test to report the scores to my LMS. Right now, it is only reporting "Completed" if the student passed the test. Or, "Started" if they failed. I would prefer it to report "completed" with a score of 87. Or "Started/Failed/Incomplete" with a score of 42.

If it's possible to disallow multiple attempts, I would be interested in guidance for that as well.

Looking forward to any assistance you can provide!

Hello Sarah,

Appreciate you sharing your experience! I’m happy to look into some LMS reporting options with you!

Since your goal is to record both completion and success statuses, I recommend one of these choices for tracking quiz scores:

  • Passed/Failed - If the learner achieves the minimum passing score, they get a completed/passed status with a score; however, they get a completed/failed status with a score if they don't. This is useful if you need to limit the number of attempts!
  • Passed/Incomplete - This will show an in progress status for learners who don't achieve the minimum passing score.

You can find more details on these and additional reporting options in this article.

One last takeaway: if your LMS isn’t reporting correctly, we recommend testing the course in SCORM Cloud. Here's a step-by-step guide on that: Troubleshoot Your LMS with SCORM Cloud.

I hope this is helpful!

Hello Becca,

I tried the passed/failed and it did not report my score. Unfortunately, I am afraid it is the LMS. We are currently using iLearn and are moving to Workday Learning in June. I am hopeful this will resolve itself when we may the switch. Unless you have any other tips?

Thank you for everything.

Hi Sarah!

Thanks for sharing those additional details with us! My teammate, Becca, provided troubleshooting steps when it comes to the way Storyline reports progress to an LMS. It sounds like this is something specific with iLearn if the progress isn't reported correctly. I'm interested to hear how the switch goes from iLearn to Workday Learning. Please let us know if that does the trick!
