Issue with Copying and Pasting Triggers
Nov 23, 2015
Has anyone had an issue with copying triggers. Here's the situation. I have a presentation I'm building that uses hundreds of triggers on a slide. I'm essentially applying a series 12 actions to each of numerous items on the slide. For simplicity sake, I am copying an action and then changing the variable so it will apply to the next item. Sometimes copy and paste works but sometimes it doesn't and the only way to correct the issue is to manually enter the trigger. I would love to be able to copy and paste with confidence but it doesn't seem to work and I can't figure out why in one instance copy and paste will work and in others it won't.

Some triggers are object-specific. For example, if you copy a trigger that is attached to an object, usually it won't copy to the slide.
So be sure to select the new object before you try to paste.
I find the copy paste icons above the triggers more reliable than CTRL-C and CTRL-V.
Thanks Walt! Should have mentioned in my initial post that all the triggers are slide triggers set to "when timeline starts". And I have been using the icons and still seem to have the problem intermittently.
Hi Robert,
When copy/paste doesn't work - what happens? Have you also confirmed that you're using the latest update of Storyline 2 Update 7 and that you're working on local project files?
Make sure you have not clicked on an object, I kick myself overtime I copy a timeline start trigger and paste it onto an object by mistake.
