Issues running Storyline using Firefox
Sep 09, 2014
I've published several storyline projects on our LMS (Moodle) for my students. I've started getting emails that certain buttons and items don't work (for example, I have an entry box where they fill in a number answer to proceed -- many of the students can't see this box and are then stuck as the video won't proceed). I've investigated the problem (in a Windows environment) and it appears to be browser specific. That is, when I go in, everything runs great on Internet Explorer and Chrome. However, when I run Firefox, I get the same issue that my students are reporting. When I published the story, I did check the HTML5 box. Any idea how I can either fix this on my end or if I can tell students to change something in their Firefox Browser settings to fix this? (They can see MOST of the video -- right now, the numeric entry items are the problem. Although, this is the 2nd day of the class, so who knows if other issues will pop up!).

Hello Janet!
Here is a link to our system requirements. Unfortunately Firefox is not a supported browser for viewing content in HTML5.
You will want to use the story.html link to view the course.
Also. you may want to test the content in the SCORM Cloud, which is the industry standard for testing, just to make sure it isn't something else form the LMS causing issues.
If you need anything else, let us know.
Thanks Emily. So, if I just publish in HTML (rather than clicking on HTML5), that will fix my problem? I'm thinking that the primary reason to publish in HTML5 is for mobile support. However, I tell students not to use mobile devices given that our version of Moodle is older (v2.4) and doesn't support output to an iPad.
Hello Janet,
Yes you could just remove the HTML5 options for publishing if you are not planning on utilizing the mobile devices. The courses will then be published in Flash.
Here is information on the difference between the publishing options.
Hope this helps!
