Javascript does not work in any browser..

This is for a plan story.html file. It will not work in any browser except ( surprisingly ) Internet Explorer 11. That is *unless* I upload it to Scorm, then it works cross browser.
The piece of javascript I'm using is this within a trigger :
alert('Javascript working');
Again, in IE, the alert pops up immediately upon opening the window. In any other browser, nothing shows nor any other variation of JS that I have used. When I upload it to SCORM, everything works perfectly.
What could I possibly be missing?
Thanks!

Hi Trip,
You mention loading it up to SCORM - where are you accessing it from before that? You may not be able to execute all the Javascript if you're testing it locally, so you'll want to test within the intended publish environment to see that everything works correctly. For example, this is documented for Google Chrome here.
I think Ashley is right, sounds like your working from your harddrive or something. Then most scripting gets disabled (you should probably get a message of it when running the story file)
Try uploading it to a webserver to properly check it or upload it to tempshare.articulate.com
Awesome thanks so much for your help. I think I have it figured out though I'm duly curious as to why local doesn't work and why! Haha, you don't have to answer that.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Trip,
If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
