Jump to next slide when user clicks outside hotspot
Nov 25, 2019
We have a screen where the user has to select outside of a drop-down list to be able to advance, so we set up a hotspot over the area we don't want them to click, with the triggers: "Jump to next slide when user clicks outside Hotspot" and "Show layer Try Again when user clicks Hotspot". This functions correctly when we click the drop-down list (hotspot), as the Try Again layer will appear. However, when we click on the button we have set up to hide the layer, the entire screen then advances. I've attached the applicable slide as well as the following one for reference in the storyline file. I'm running this on Articulate Storyline 360 with the most recent update.

Hi Jenna
I added a next slide to your story and tested it and it appears to be working fine for me - see this Peek
or do I misunderstand what the issue is?
The issue isn't being able to advance to the next slide. The issue is that if you make a mistake (so, click inside of the drop-down) on the very first slide, then click the Try Again button when the layer appears in order to hide the layer, the entire slide also just advances. Does that make sense?
HI Jenna
see if the update to your file works. I selected an option on the Try again layer to Prevent user clicking on base layer until the layer closes.
That fixed it! Thank you!!
Glad to hear it Jenna - all the best with your project :-)
