Jump to slide AND restart that slide on the base layer at the begining of the timeline

I’m developing a scenario based (choose your own adventure type) of training and I’ve created it in probably the most clunky and in-elegant way possible.  My slides have multiple layers that are triggered depending upon what the user chooses.  Then they get sent to the next slide.  Sometimes they need to go back to a previous slide and go through the scenario again with the option of making a different choice.  However, in my presentation when they go back to a slide that is already visited it doesn’t restart the slide.  It takes them to the end of the timeline of whatever layer they were last on.  And then they are stuck in a loop.  Have you come across this?  Is there an easy fix?
