Keeping Closed Captioning Opened
Aug 23, 2016
Hi, I have set up cc in my SL with a toggle true/false variable (CC) and text variable (Caption) and am struggling with how to keep the captions open (true) once the user has toggled them on.
I found this forum but the captions are set up differently than mine:

Attached are 2 screens of my project. Thank you for any insights you can provide.

You need a trigger one each slide to show the layer on condition your variable is equal to true
Hello Phil, I am not using layers to do the captions. Any layers found in the test files were just a test. The captions are coming in using the "set caption to equal to..." on the Base layer. Everything is on the base layer. I have tried several trigger combination with no luck.
Phil is right (even if he did use the word layers).
On the second slide, the caption and rectangle have an initial setting of hidden, which you want only if they were hidden when the previous slide ended.
Put a trigger to set each of them visible when the timeline starts if CC = True. See attached sample.
I can not thank you both enough!! It was the having it execute on "when timeline starts" that I was missing. My accessibility concerned clients will be very happy! All the best.
Sorry never opened the file, I only ever do closed captioning with layers as it gives me much more control.
