Keyboard Interaction

May 15, 2023

Hi awesome group!
Can the user's input be connected to the storyline 360?
I want to ask the user to hit Cntr+Alt+[a number key or a letter key], which shows on the screen. Then if the user clicks the correct buttons on their keyboard, a trigger gets active [for example, shows the correct or incorrect message].
Any solution to show the user interactivity with their own device keyboard on the screen?

Thanks,
Matin

Hello Matin,

Just to clarify, are you trying to pass the keys that a learner enters in your Storyline 360 course to an application like an on-screen keyboard? If yes, this feature is currently not available in Storyline 360.

If you're trying to design something different, kindly give us a little more detail on what you’re trying to accomplish. I’m sure one of our talented community members will have suggestions for you!

Hi Joey,

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I need to get the key input from the user. But I was not sure if that works on mobile devices as well as the computer. If we do not have this feature, would you please help me to find another solution?

This is what I want to do:
During the eLearning module, I explain the hotkeys to use a system, such as Ctrl+Alt+S and Alt+.

Now for the knowledge check, I want them to remember the hotkeys.
There is an illustration of a keyboard (attached image) on the screen.

My first thought: users click on their own keyboard of their devices and it shows on the screen; which if I understand, is not working on Storyline.

My second thought 🤓 I don't know?! Please give me a solution to make it happen or any other way to make some activity for the user to learn essential hotkeys.

I appreciate any help you may provide,
