Layer errors

I have a branching scenario that allows the user to go back to the starting point to retry. Many of my slides have Layers that show a base layer for questions and answer choices and other layers that appear with correct or incorrect answers.
When I use the "try again button" to go back to a slide with layers (the base layer has questions and answer choices) it DOES NOT go to the base layer- it jumps to the other layers as if the learner had selected an answer.
Not good. How can i fix this?

Have you tried changing your slide's resume behavior to 'Reset to initial state' so that the navigation directs your learners to the base layer (unless other triggers are telling the slide to open a layer) during a revisit or try again sequence?
If this doesn't work, would you be willing to upload a copy of your course here or in private through a support case so we can take a look at how your slides are setup? We'll delete it when we're done testing!
