Layers + Zoom Region

Hi you guys,
It's me again. My base layer has audio and a zoom region.
I'm trying to time objects and animations to a second piece of audio on a second layer but whenever I play the audio, it plays the base layer's animations and objects including the zoom region closeup which is the opposite of helpful. Even when I hide all objects on the base layer, the strange zoom action still happens.
What am I missing here? Thanks!
Colin

Hi Colin!
What version of Storyline are you using when you experience this behavior?
Are you saying that you experience a zoom area on your slide layer as well? We do have a similar sounding issue reported internally. Let me know if that's what you're seeing as well, so that I can add this thread to the report as we track user impact.
The workaround being to use separate slides instead of layers.
I'm using a trial version of Storyline 2.
And I'm saying that when audio is played on this second layer (not the base layer), the base layer's animations (including a zoom area) play instead.
Interesting. Thanks for those details Colin and letting us know what version of Storyline you are using. Is this happening within the HTML5 output or always? Would you be able to share your .story file so that we can take a look?
Hello,
I'm having the same issue. I cannot share my file due to NDA, however I noticed the "carried over" zoom from the base layer does not appear in the preview of that layer, only when it's played from the timeline. I'll know if the issue persists once the file is published, and having my fingers crossed that it renders correctly!
Hi Pedro,
Thank you for reaching out!
While this is an older thread, I am happy to jump in to help! Does this also appear in new files when using a zoom region? Or is this happening only in a specific file?
Please keep us updated on this after you have published the course!
Hi Vincent,
This is was my first presentation in Storyline (Novice role) so I don't have a reference point. I was able to publish and the slide elements displayed exactly as intended! Thanks for offering the help. In general I find this forum super useful. Thanks!
Hi Pedro,
That is great! I am glad that the slide elements were displaying as intended. Just to make sure I am on the same page, was the issue only occurring when you previewed your course?
The unintended zoom only appeared when I played the timeline of events from the editing screen of the specific layer by pressing spacebar. When clicking “Preview” and after publishing, it worked just fine.
Thanks!
