Learner input within table

Mar 15, 2023

Hello community,

I would like to collect input from the learner, but I want it to happen within a table.

How can I make that happen and where does the input get collected?

If the learner wants to have access to the filled out table, can they access it? Through an LMS maybe? How would I make that happen?

Thank you!

Sabina

Hello Sabina,

Thanks for reaching out!

Allow me to address each of your inquiries individually:

  1. Authors can only add text to tables in Storyline 360 and there is no way to design them to include user input.
  2. An alternative would be to design a custom shape that looked like a table, and have the text entry input placed in the "cells". You can then store these text entry values to variables which you can call up anytime as variable references.

I always believe that there is more than one way to solve a design requirement in Storyline 360, so I'll let other members of the community chime in with solutions that they're willing to share!

Hi Sabina,

This article will help you get started on using variables in your course:

And this article explains how you can send any value of a variable to an LMS:

As for the value of the variables, variables should be saved if your course is hosted on an LMS, but they will reset to their default values if you publish to either Web or Review 360.
