Im typing my text in a text box. haven't done anything to it yet. I type a word with the letter 'k' in it, I can see it on the screen... continue typing ...and SHAZAM! it just dissapears from the text box. There is absolutely no way to type a 'k' in my project???
Has anyone seen this issue? And is there a solution. I know I am not the only one... a friend of mine that uses Storyline mentioned it a few months ago but I could not reproduce it at that time.
Thanks for sharing the .story file here with us. I opened it up, and saw you didn't have an "k" words - so I tried to type a number of words in that either began with "K" (kayak and kaleidoscope were the first ones I came up with) or that had a "K" in them ( jackel, breaking, etc.) and I didn't have any of my K's disappear. I tried previewing, publishing, saving and reopening - and all my K's still there. Since I'm unable to replicate the issue, I wanted to see if you could start by doing a repair of Storyline and the supporting Microsoft software. If you're still experiencing the problem after that, can you let me know what set up you're using (i.e. Windows 8 or 7, maybe Office 2010?).
Not being in every project leads me to believe a repair may help out - that and those projects which are causing you problems, I'd insert them into a new Storyline file to see if the behavior continues. I don't believe I have a VM with Windows 8 and Office 2010 to test it out there, but to help you narrow it down, I am on Windows 8 and Office 2013. If you'd like to share your .story file here with us I can also see if the behavior continues when testing in my set up.
Found it! It's a spelling thing. When the dictionary is set to English and I am typing in Dutch the 'k' vanishes. When I set the dictionary to Dutch it works as expected. Could be an autocorrect thing? Or maybe a real bug?
When you're typing in Dutch have you changed your Windows input keyboard to be dutch instead of English? Excuse me for asking a silly question, but does the Dutch language not have a K?
I'd think that if you're creating a course in Dutch, you'd want Storyline's dictionary to be set to Dutch and your keyboard language - and if typing in English, again set them both to English.
Yep, my keyboard language is set to Dutch by default. And, yes, we do have the letter K in words, hence its disappearance :)
I've done some more playing around and I'm pretty sure now that it the Dutch word 'Ik' gets replaced by the English 'I' which is actually the same :). Seems like an autocorrect thing.

Forgot to upload the file... Hope someone can shed some light on this!

hmmm interesting. I'll give that a try.
I'm using windows 8 with office2010... will try this. Oddly it's not in every project.

I told you it would be a silly question, but I wanted to confirm. :-)
Glad you were able to narrow it down to an autocorrect!
