Lightbox Exit Dialog worked in Storyline 1 but does not work in Storyline 2

Nov 20, 2014

We have -- or had -- a nice lightbox slide set up in Storyline v 1: When the learner clicked the Exit link in the upper-right corner of the screen, a lightbox slide would appear asking the learner to confirm (yes) the wish to exit or (no) not to exit. If the learner clicked yes, when the learner returned to the course, the course would offer the learner the option to return to the bookmarked spot. While that bookmark notification still works with a Storyline v 2 course, if the learner returns to the bookmarked spot, that spot no longer is the content slide where the learner left off before clicking exit but rather the exit lightbox slide with that yes/no dialog. What is different in Storyline v 2 that does not allow that lightbox dialog and bookmark feature to perform as it did in Storyline v 1? With a Storyline v 2 course, the learner has to answer that yes/no dialog again on the exit lightbox -- by answering no -- before returning to the bookmarked page.

Hi John,

Are you able to share this course with us so that we can take a look at the triggers and behavior? Based on what you've described, I suspect SL2 is actually bookmarking to the lightbox as that's the last thing the user saw when closing the course. If you have the SL1 course, it may help to start with that version see how it behaves and than upgrade it to SL2. You can post a .story file here in the forums by using the "add attachment" button.

Thanks... our team has discussed this and it may be that SL 1 had the bug and that the SL 2 version of the course is bookmarking 'precisely' in our LMS. Can't post the course, of course (couldn't help that!). Am trying some more triggers, first.

Thanks for the reply!

Kind regards,

That was my guess...and wanted to see how it behaved. I know SL1 had some bugs that were fixed in regards to lightboxes and jump to slide triggers, etc. and you can see those detailed in the release notes.

Also, just an FYI - when you reply via email it includes your signature here - and you can edit the post to remove that information.
