Is there a way to assign the answer from a likert question to a variable?
I would like to ask 4 questions one one slide rated from a 1 to 10 on a likert scale. I would then like to use those responses on another slide so I need to assign the answers to a variable. Any ideas?
I'm not sure that you can grab that info from the likert question.
However, it's really easy to create your own likert type question using button sets. From there, you have full access to what was and wasn't selected and adjust your variables accordingly.
So...
1. Add 10 radio buttons.
2. Select all of them - Right Click - Button Set 1
3. Add 10 more radio buttons (for question #2), Select them all - Right Click - New Button Set - Name it
And so on for the next 2 likert sets
Then, create a submit button, and your variables. Now trigger the variable adjustment (when the submit button is clicked) based upon what buttons are selected.
Thanks a ton...Never used button sets before but I think I have created something that will do exactly what I want. Took me a little experimenting but it works perfectly!
Thanks so much for your help!
P.S. Love your work! Keep up the great job....you give us all something to shoot for!
I've fixed this for myself a while ago, but I may be missing something that has meant a long way around. Mike, can I ask, when you say 'trigger the variable adjustment (when the submit button is clicked) based upon what buttons are selected', do you mean there needs to be a trigger for each button? (i.e. For button 1 in a set, assign 1 to the variable if the state of the button is selected, then for button 2, assign 2 to the variable if the state is selected...and so on?)
you need a trigger for each radio button, but you could build one likert scale with triggers, copy and paste and then you would only need to change the button set and the variable it reach trigger references, saved you a bit of time, not much though

i also need a way to retrieve a score from a likert scale assigning values to its variables, but cannot find any documentation on how to do that.
Hi Zio,
