I'd also be concerned if adding more states slows things down or effects editing on a slide negatively. Generally speaking, what I've seen, the more complex a slide, the slower it becomes to edit at times or sometimes other weird behavior is exhibited. To Articulate's credit this seems improved a lot from the early betas, but I still see it sometimes.
