LMS Reporting Issue

Dec 05, 2014

Hello,

Wondering if anyone can help me understand why the following issue is occurring with my eLearning courses, developed using Articulate Storyline and deployed to SumTotal LMS.

Issue:  Multiple learners have completed an eLearning course successfully with 100% pass rate and the completion hasn’t recorded in SumTotal. Upon further investigation, for these specific cases LMS is showing their last attempt as scoring less than 100%. Please note, the same course works perfectly fine for other learners and tracks the completion score.

Publish Setting: I have got the following publish setting ‘Passed/Incomplete’ as we have a scored assessment at the end of the course which has a completion rate of 100%.

I have tested this course on SCORM Cloud and the report seems to be fine (Please check the attachment).

Attached is also the Fiddler log which was send to SumTotal.

Thank you for your help in advance! :)

Hi Suni,

Have you checked into how the users are closing the course? For example is there an exit button you've included on your final slide with an exit course trigger, and maybe some users are just closing the browser window? My guess is that if it's working for some users and not for others it has something to do with that element and how SumTotal is determining that the user has finished the course based on that action.

Hi Suni,

Thanks for checking into the exit course trigger - so you've confirmed all users are using that exit course button? Are they all in the same browser version as well? In regards to SCORM compliance, I'm unsure what you're looking for. Storyline is SCORM conformant, supporting SCORM 1.2 through SCORM 2004 4th Edition as well as Tin Can API.

Official SCORM certification from ADL, however, is only available through SCORM 2004 3rd Edition. Since Storyline has evolved beyond existing certification options, we haven't submitted it for independent certification. But rest assured, our implementation of SCORM was developed by industry experts.

Publishing for SCORM 1.2 will include all the elements needed, but each LMS may have different requirements in terms of the publishing options or how they'll display the quiz data sent to the LMS.
