Locked scenes and videos

May 05, 2023

Hi,

Apologies for the vague title...

I'm not sure if what I'm trying to do is possible or I just don't know how.

I've got a course comprising 5 scenes

Scene 1 is a title and menu scene with buttons to the other 4 scenes

Scene 2 is a video (mp4 supplied to me by my SME). This scene is mandatory. Everyone has to view the video before they can go to the rest.

Scene 3-5 are screen recordings. (View, try and test). Once the video is viewed, these can be accessed in any order. Only the test scene must be viewed to complete the course. These scenes are only 'locked' using states and triggers - i.e. if the state of the scene 1 button is visited, the others change to normal.

The video scene is sort of locked so viewers can't skip the video. I've got the seekbar visible on the video slide only. The setting is 'allow drag after completion'. The slide property for revisiting is set to 'Automatically decide'.

The course is published on our LMS as SCORM 1.2 as that was recommended by our eLearning technologist.

My question is -

Is there a setting so that people going through the course, but only view the video, leave the course and return later, don't have to view the video again?

Thank you

Karen

I believe if you open a slide and go to the top and click in the publish box on the "Player" it will open the player properties. There is gear in the top middle in the custom box that is labeled "Other". Click on the gear and the Browser Setting will open. About 1/3 of the way down you will see "Resume" make sure it "Prompt to resume" in the On restart field.

This should ask the learner if the wish to resume where they left off. Next you need to go to the slide with the video and open its properties and change "When revisiting" to Resume saved state.

That should do what you want.

Good luck

Hi Karen,

Thanks for reaching out!

In addition to what Eric suggested, I wanted to share this resource where you can read more about resume behavior in Storyline. If you need further assistance with your project, please feel free to upload it here or share it privately in a support case so we can investigate further!
