Locking Assessment

Mar 12, 2014

Hi All,

I am currently creating an eLearning course using Articulate Storyline. At the end of all the learning content there is to be an assessment made up of 20 questions which will test the user of all that they have learnt during the course.

Is it possible to have this assessment locked until the user has gone through every page of the course?

going through every page should open the assessment.

If so, please can you explain how.

Regards

Hi Adeyemi and welcome to Heroes!

The exact method of how you'll set this up will depend on the navigation you've enabled within your course, so for the sake of argument, I'll share probably the easiest method.

If you've included a built in menu within your player, I would set the navigation to "restricted" as that means learners can view the current slide and any slide they've previously viewed, but they can't use the menu to jump ahead or skip over slides. I'd also include the next/previous buttons, which the user can also use to navigate but I'd add a condition to the Next button's trigger, so that the button works only if a specific condition is met (such as the slide timeline ending or clicking on a particular object on the slide). For more on how to add conditions to your triggers, see this tutorial.

If your course follows a non-linear set up, you'll want to restrict access to the quiz by tracking a t/f variable. In essence, there will be a variable associated with the end of each page or section of the course, that when the user reaches that page is changed from False to True. You'll then set a condition connected with how they user will access the quiz (such as a button) that they slide will only jump to the quiz if all the Variables set up are equal to true. There is so more information here on working with variables.
